Message and what the term "photoshoot" implies (as you stated), and what it
actually means are two different things. Just like "turbocharged" implies
fast, but I hardly think Semi-trucks and stock turbo Eclipses and
LeBarons are fast, like Turbo Porsches, Ferrari's, and Nissan Z's.

It may imply professional, but the definition I found was "a session in
which a photographer takes shots of an individual or group." So
technically, you can't have a car photoshoot. But I assume you call what
you do with cars a photoshoot, so we'll get past the "individual or group"
part and take notice of the fact that it nowhere implies professional or
that it requires any skill at all. At this point, I'm willing to bet that you're
going to make mention of the word "photographer" and classify a
photographer as a professional... but the definition of being a
"photographer" is "to practice photography." And a "professional" is
simply anyone who gets paid for doing something (while it can also mean
expert, a person doesn't have to be an expert to be a professional). But
no one really claims to be a professional photographer when they have
their photoshoot (and I'm sure no one gets paid to take pics of their own
car), so just a plain photographer is apparently acceptable by definition.

In conclusion, anyone can have a photoshoot, by definition. You just
think that because you might be better at it, that you are somehow elite
to the other photographers and are solely allowed to use the term
"photoshoot." I disagree. I'll go outside in direct sunlight and take a
picture of my dirty wheel sitting in thte grass with my camera phone, and
if I happen to take multiple pictures, I'll consider it a photoshoot. If
someone preps their car and takes time to photograph it, it's a
photoshoot. Period.

And while it may be an annoying fad, I have seen some pics of cars on
grass that I liked. It may not be professional, but I don't care. My
tastes aren't your tastes.

Sorry I had to post this, but your critiquing everyone elses photography
is becoming redundant, annoying, and very pointless. All that the
members of this forum want to do is post pictures of their car so that
other members can see it... this isn't a photography contest, so let
people take their pictures in whatever fashion they want, let them call it
what they want, and worry about your own photographs.
